FAshion Design Fashion Design Certificate Program completed at Instituto Lorenzo De Medici, Florence IT 2025
I completed a one-year intensive Fashion Design program that blended creative exploration with technical training. I came in with experience in illustration, sewing, and styling, and the program helped me strengthen those skills while diving deeper into print design, CAD, patternmaking, and garment construction.
I worked through the full design process—from research and concept development to fabric sourcing, draping, and final construction—while also learning how to back up my creative ideas with solid trend and market research. Every project was a chance to experiment, refine my ideas, and build a more intentional approach to design.
Working in professional studios and production labs, I gained hands-on experience with industry tools and software, and learned how to bring ideas to life from sketch to final piece. The program really shaped how I approach fashion: as a balance of creativity, craftsmanship, and storytelling.
Fashion Illustration
The Fashion Illustration course focused on the art of visually communicating fashion designs through detailed drawings and creative rendering techniques. Key skills developed included sketching dynamic fashion figures, illustrating garment details, and capturing the flow and texture of various fabrics. Techniques using markers, watercolors, and other mediums were explored. The course emphasized creating cohesive mood boards and polished illustrations, resulting in a strong foundation for presenting unique fashion concepts visually.
CAD for Fashion Design
The CAD for Fashion Design course focused on using industry-standard software, including Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, to create technical flats, fashion illustrations, and digital presentations. The course covered essential skills such as drawing accurate garment flats, developing detailed technical packs, and applying textile patterns and colorways digitally. Emphasis was placed on creating professional-quality digital renderings, moodboards, and layouts that effectively communicate design concepts. Through practical projects, the course provided a strong foundation in digital design tools essential for modern fashion design workflows.
